The BA (Hons) validated in Product Design is a three-year degree structured to progressively develop your creative, technical and professional skills across product innovation, user-centered design, prototyping and professional industry practice.
In the first year, you will build foundational knowledge in product design principles, materials and manufacturing, digital design tools, and visual communication. The focus is on developing creative confidence, understanding design processes, and learning how products are researched, developed, prototyped, and presented within contemporary design contexts.
In the second year, you will expand into advanced prototyping techniques, human-centered design, ergonomics, sustainability, and branding. You will begin to define your personal design approach while developing a deeper understanding of how products respond to users, production systems, and market needs. Studio projects encourage experimentation, innovation, collaboration, and the development of industry-ready design solutions.
In the final year, you will focus on professional practice through the development of a major product design project, production-focused design development, and a professional portfolio. Industry engagement, internships, and self-directed projects support your transition into professional creative practice, preparing you for a wide range of roles within product design, manufacturing, innovation, and related creative industries.
Throughout the bachelor degree in Product Design, learning takes place with international professors through studio practice, workshops, live briefs, prototyping sessions and portfolio development, with all assessments based on practical and project-led work rather than traditional exams.
The BA (Hons) in Product Design is validated by our academic partner, Coventry University, and awarded as a UK degree.
