Cinema
Overview do Curso

Who the course is for
We want Cinema lovers. We want the people that watch a movie but see everything going on backstage first. We want the person that yells “Action!” before starting a video with their family; or the one that shouts “It’s a wrap!” when it’s done.
The Cinema course is made for all those who wish to learn about the main areas of cinematographic direction and production and acquire the technical and theoretical tools that’ll allow them to conceive, develop, produce and direct films. Those who wish to pursue a career in cinematographic and audiovisual production are also more than welcome. Some classes, like the ones dedicated to the history of cinema and film analysis, are open to anyone who wishes to deepen their knowledge of these subjects, even if directing and producing aren’t their chosen fields.
The course has a limited number of students per class. Apply now.

Lights. Camera. Action.
Our method is easy and effective – learn by doing. From the get-go, you’ll be operating lights, cameras and microphones, while executing creative writing exercises and artistic and actor direction. You’ll discuss many films from different eras of film history and learn about the dynamics of film financing rules in Europe and especially in Portugal. Together with your colleagues, you’ll choose at least one short film to create from the ideas you have in scriptwriting classes. As a group, you’ll prepare, produce and direct it. The result will be screened publicly at the end of the course. You’ll also have masterclasses with national and international professionals, all connected to various cinema and audiovisual industry areas, who will show you some of their work and share many of their experiences.
About the course
The Cinema course has the duration of a school year and focuses on film Direction. You’ll come into close contact with the five main areas of creating a film: Production, Direction, Image, Sound and Post-Production. We’ve included a vital and constant practical component and a useful overview of the History of Cinema.
When you graduate from our Cinema course, you’ll be profoundly familiar with the current writing techniques, cinema film production and development, as well as the technologies used in image capturing, sound and post-production.
