Painting and sculpture are some of the oldest art forms known to man. When someone paints or sculpts, what they’re doing is exploring their representation of reality and using their creativity as a means to open the imagination to a dimension different from the one we live in. Even in their stillness, paintings and sculptures contain various narratives, various interpretations, many ways in which they can be viewed and felt.

This advanced course at Cascais School of Arts & Design, which is highly practical, will equip you with the techniques and tools you need to start a new artistic career in painting or sculpture.

Throughout the process you will be accompanied by teachers, mentors and curators who will help you build a portfolio suitable for exhibitions.

What you’ll learn

The Advanced Course in Painting and Sculpture has a strong practical, technical, and creative component and is designed for students seeking to find meaning in choosing and structuring their own individual artistic path, grounded in the critical, aesthetic, and technological aspects of conceptual production.

The course is delivered in a face-to-face format and includes required courses (Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Visual Culture, and Final Project).
The Final Project allows students to choose to specialize in either the two-dimensional field (Painting) or the three-dimensional field (Sculpture).

The academic experience will focus on two inseparable forms of participation: the development of practical work in the workshop/studio.
Personalized guidance in building a portfolio (addressing aesthetic, formal, theoretical, and technical issues) and an exhibition process.

Who the course is for

All students who have already completed the first level of the Painting and Sculpture Course. Students, Professionals and Artists who already have some basis or previous experience in Visual Arts or related areas and who wish to deepen their knowledge.
