After completing two years of studies in Design and Communication (Graphic Arts) at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP), they graduated in 1999 from CITEX in Textile and Fashion Design.
That same year, they began their professional career by joining the Fashion Department of ANIVEC/APIV following a curricular internship. In 2002, they took on the role of department coordinator, a position they held until 2005. During this time, they focused on developing and projecting fashion trends for the Portuguese textile and clothing industry, while also contributing to fashion forecasting and coordination for international organizations such as Intercolor, Tissu Premier, and Première Vision.
In 2004, they began teaching at CITEX, delivering modules on Fashion Trend Research and Analysis, and Trend Project Development. In 2008, they added modules in Fashion and Textile History to their teaching portfolio, which they continue to teach at MODATEX in both Porto and Lisbon.
Currently at MODATEX, they also teach several UFCDs (training units), including: Fabric Identification for Apparel, Knitwear Identification: Inner and Outerwear, Development of Men’s Classic Garments, Men’s Wear Design Project, Streetwear Basics, and Streetwear Design Project.
From 2005 to 2018, they also collaborated with EMP and GUDI, teaching Fashion Design, Textile Materials, and Fashion Trends. Between 2008 and 2022, they were a guest lecturer at ESMAE – Polytechnic Institute of Porto, teaching Costume Design Introduction, Production III, and Costume Drawing I and II.
Their work as a costume designer began in 1995 and culminated in 2009 with a final project co-designed with Sónia Santos for the play A Cidade dos que Partem — a co-production between Teatro da Palmilha Dentada and Teatro Nacional São João (TNSJ).
Between 2010 and 2017, they pursued complementary training in manual printing and dyeing techniques, participating in various workshops held in India, France, and Portugal.
In 2014, they directed the fashion programs at GUDI, and in 2015, coordinated the Fashion Design course at EMP. That same year, they were invited by Dolores Gouveia – Fashion Trends, Design, and Marketing – to collaborate on the research and development of the SS 2017 Trends report, part of the Leather Days fashion coordination project promoted by APIC.
Most recently, in 2020, they completed the Styling and Fashion Production course at PULP Fashion Productions, further expanding their versatility and commitment to ongoing professional development.
