Marco Maretto is an architect, professor, and researcher whose work focuses on architectural and urban design processes, with a strong emphasis on the relationship between form, sustainability, and the evolution of the contemporary city. As an academic, he has been active in design education and research, exploring how analytical frameworks, particularly urban morphology, can inform robust, context-aware architectural strategies.
He is Co-Founder of GAIA Research Lab, a research and experimentation firm dedicated to applying generative AI to architectural design and urban projects. Within GAIA, he contributes to the definition and advancement of the GAIA Method, integrating morphology-based reasoning, scenario design, and AI-supported prototyping to structure early-stage decision-making and communicate projects through coherent narrative and visual outputs.
Through research, teaching, and applied collaborations, Marco investigates how emerging AI tools can enhance architectural intelligence, linking cultural interpretation, spatial quality, and measurable scenarios, while maintaining a critical design approach grounded in the discipline.
