She graduated in Design from Faculdade de Arquitectura of UTL, 1995-2001, including an Erasmus exchange at the Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy. She worked in various studios in The Hague, Netherlands, and Lisbon, Portugal, as a Product and Interior Designer from 2001 to 2012 (Ontwerpwerk, Altamira, 37design, etc.). Concurrently, she completed an intermediate course in Italian at the Polytechnic University of Milan and an Advanced English Language Course at the British Council in Lisbon (CAE Diploma from the University of Cambridge, UK).
She earned her Ph.D. in Design from the Faculdade de Arquitectura U.Lisboa in 2019 (Thesis published - Children's Domestic Furniture). She is an integrated researcher at CIAUD - Centro de Investigação em Arquitectura, Urbanismo e Design. With presentations and publications of book chapters and scientific articles at national and international congresses, conferences, and seminars, she researches Child Well-being and Sustainability, Ergonomics, Materials and Technologies, Textiles, Color, and Illustration. She supervises Master's and Ph.D. students in Design.
She also completed a free course in Illustration at the Faculdade de Belas Artes da U. Lisboa/CIEAM, participating in individual and collective exhibitions in Lisbon, Almada, Moita, Barreiro, Mértola, S. João da Madeira, Loures, etc. She has illustrated children's books and conducted Illustration and Origami workshops for children in primary schools, libraries, and municipal galleries.
She is a Guest Assistant Professor at the Faculdade de Arquitectura da U. Lisboa (Bachelor's degrees in Design and Fashion Design, Master's in Product Design, and Ph.D. in Design) and, since 2019, she has also been a Professor in the Interior Design program at CSARTS - Cascais School of Arts & Design.
